MAKKAH/JEDDAH: Security commanders have expressed their happiness over the appointment of Prince Naif as crown prince, deputy premier and minister of interior and said in statements to Arab News Friday that he was a fitting successor to a great predecessor.
“It is an appropriate choice. He is a great leader succeeding another great one,” said director of the general security Gen. Saeed Al-Qahtani.
He described Prince Naif as an outstanding political, security and economic figure who has made tangible contributions to a number of activities. “The new crown prince was keen to educate every staff of the Interior Ministry. He has armed us with education, knowledge and training,” he said, adding, the prince has made the ministry a source of pride for all Saudis.
Director of Civil Defense Gen. Saad Al-Tuwaijri said the appointment of Prince Naif as crown prince is apt. “Prince Naif, who is the chairman of the Supreme Haj Committee gave much of his time and efforts to make Haj easy and comfortable,” he said, adding, “Prince Naif was keen on every detail related to Haj. He inspected all Haj sites annually and listened to the officials involved in Haj operations to resolve their problems.” Al-Tuwaijri said Prince Naif gave importance to public opinion about Haj arrangements and he had always told us to respect public opinion.
Director of Makkah police Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Al-Hamzi described Prince Naif as a man of “security and humanity” and said he was always wise, composed and understanding.
“Nobody can dare challenge the efforts exerted by Prince Naif to smoothen the completion of Haj rites by pilgrims,” he said.
Director of Civil Defense in Makkah Brig. Jameel Arbaeen said the choice of Prince Naif as a crown prince was good news for every Saudi. “The Haj security strategy the prince formulated has made the performance of the fifth pillar of Islam easy,” he added. Arbaeen also lauded Prince Naif’s efforts in giving to charity.
Lt. Gen. Saeed Al-Qahtani, director general of public security, congratulated Crown Prince Naif on the royal confidence. He said that King Abdullah has reposed great confidence in Prince Naif because of his continuous efforts to enhance the country’s security and stability.
Official spokesman of Interior Ministry, Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, also congratulated Prince Naif. He said that only history could substantiate who is Prince Naif and what he has done for his country and king. The security of the Kingdom is always his top priority.
Hail police chief Gen. Yahya Al-Beladi said Saudi Arabia is proud of Prince Naif’s new appointment, especially security officials. Prince Naif was tough in dealing with terrorism. His experience and wisdom led to the crushing of terrorism in the Kingdom.
Security consultant, Brig. Gen. Sultan Al-Harbi, said Prince Naif had many achievements but his efforts to root out terror really stand out. In the 36 years as interior minister, the prince was the soldier who stood bravely against all those trying to destabilize the country.
Al-Harbi added that not only did he crush terror organizations, the prince was concerned in rehabilitating the members of the terror groups who broke away from the deviant ideology.
