PARIS: Saudi Arabia announced Friday its total support to Palestine's efforts to gain full membership to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Addressing the 36th session of the General Conference of UNESCO, Education Minister Prince Faisal bin Abdullah said Saudi Arabia supported the decision of the organization's Executive Board last month to accept the full membership of the State of Palestine, admitting the right of Palestinians for a homeland and peaceful existence, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.
The prince urged all member states in the UNESCO's General Conference to adopt the decision. Prince Faisal led the Saudi delegation to the conference,
"How can we talk about peace when we close our eyes to the fairest of cause: The cause of the Palestinian people who just want to have a homeland like other people. Don't you imagine the feelings of a person without a homeland?" the prince asked.
