IEF gets new office bearers
The Indian Engineers Forum (IEF) in Riyadh organized a major ceremonial function Wednesday night to announce the names of the newly elected office bearers. The occasion also served as a farewell party for prominent Indian entrepreneur Afzal J. Sanai, who is well known for his flair for community service and charity work. Sanai, who has spent 35 years in the Kingdom, is the chief executive of the Arabian Farms Development Company Ltd.
Well-known technocrat Suhail Ahmad, an eloquent speaker currently working as a senior process consultant at the Ministry of Water & Electricity, was named as new IEF's president. Suhail succeeds Owais Ahmed, who is currently the president of the India Business Forum (IBF). Suhail will lead the organization by working with a highly experienced and dedicated new team of five vice presidents and officials. His mission is to build engineering excellence in Saudi Arabia as well as in India.
At the very outset, IEF chairman and founder member Amir Khan announced the names of Shaik Abdul Khadar, Abdul Muqeet, Sultan Khan, Farhan Hashmi and Vishal Sharma as IEF vice presidents with different portfolios for 2012-2013. K.N. Wasif, a noted photojournalist, also delivered a speech in honor of Sanai. A memento was presented to Sanai by IEF chairman Khan. The event was attended by a number of prominent community members and long time IEF associates like A.R. Saleem, Shamim Khan, Z. Rehman and Khursheed Anwar, Bilal Habib, Sultan Khan, A. Saxena, A. Mirza, Aijaz Baig, Amir Subhani and Obaidur Rehman.
Suhail said the Riyadh-based IEF, an apolitical non-profit forum of top-notch Indian engineers and technocrats, has been always “striving to facilitate exchange of information and knowledge.” The new office bearers will seek to support the IEF's integration into the Saudi and Indian engineering environments for learning and quality excellence, he added. The occasion also served as farewell for Sanai, who was once member of the IEF advisory board.
Farhan Hashmi conducted the event. Ahmad, the outgoing IEF president, shared his experiences and moments of his association with the IEF, while speaking on this occasion. “IEF has several targets that have to be achieved by synergizing the energy of the members with an aim to achieve the required Key Performance Index (KPI),” he said. Sanai, who was also the guest of honor, narrated his successful career stories and recalled his close association with the IEF.
He commended sincere services rendered by the IEF and its chapters across the Kingdom. “IEF has always been a source of education since its inception 14 years ago,” said Sanai. Other advisory board members including B.S. Khan and Tariq Masood also addressed the audience. Sanai, who will be returning to India a few days from now, has launched a major multimillion riyal national sports school project.
The Insportz School will open in August 2013 in the Indian city of Hyderabad. Sanai is the chairman of the sports school. Besides his moral and financial contributions, Sanai's diverse experience in academics and business will be of incredible gain for the betterment and development of the sports school, the first of its kind in India. The school will have world-class training centers for lawn tennis, swimming, football and cricket to train young Indian boys and girls.
