Nepal parties reach power sharing deal
Major political parties in Nepal on Thursday reached a power sharing deal that will pave the way for the dissolution of the Cabinet.
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai was expected to dissolve the Cabinet later Thursday and request the political parties to form a national consensus Government.
The new 11-15 member Cabinet will be announced in the next two days, Xinhua reported. The parties have also agreed that Bhattarai will resign after they reach an agreement on all contentious issues of the constitution and a Government led by the Nepali Congress (NC) will promulgate the Constitution.
“A NC-led national unity government will be formed after agreement is reached on the new constitution and before it is promulgated,” said NC general secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula.
