In this DVD, Cris Robson shows his techniques for creating thefamous ED209 robot from the film Robocop in 3ds Max, first as a scaffold, then as a high polygon detailed model which is finally optimized and un-wrapped and normal mapped into a sub 10,000 polygon game asset in Unreal Tournament 3.
The Next Generation Game Development in Unreal Tournament 3 for 3ds Max This set is 4 DVDs, recorded in high resolution with full audio and requires 3ds Max 7+ (with Polygon Cruncher if you are not using the latest 3ds Max) Photoshop or Gimp and ideally Unreal Tournament 3 or some other game that ships with UnrealEd.
Red then takes this low polygon textured model and imports it into the UT3 engine as an animated and rigged game asset. A small level is then built to show how it interacts with this environment.
The ED209 Game Development Project is a video learning set from 3d-Palace that covers advanced game development character building, preperation and insertion into a game both as a static textured mesh and as a fully animated and realised asset.
The set covers some unique concepts in game development model development, including a new Scaffold Methodology to allow a much faster approach to modelling.
You will start this set, as usual, with a completely empty scene in 3ds Max, no photoshop files and no game assets – by the end of this mammoth FOUR DVD set, you will have a fully rigged low polygon ED209 with high polygon normal map, actually inside the Unreal Tournament 3 game with every step of the process along the way demonstrated!
