Lino Miele - Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series

The aim of the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute is to teach and disseminate the philosophy and practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in its traditional form, as it has been taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

This ancient Yoga method emphasises synchronization of the breath with a progressive series of asanas (postures). The breath unites the body with deeper levels of the mind.

By acquiring the ability to control a long deep breath, the mind becomes calm and concentrated, thoughts slow down and every movement flows gently and precisely from one asana (posture) into another. When breath and movement flow without effort and in perfect harmony, the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga practice transcends awareness (consciousness) and evolves into a meditation in movement.

Lino Miele is the director of the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute and he runs it in Roma with Rossana Galanzi, Maria Paola Stefani and Sergio Rossetti his certified teachers and direct students.

The Ashtanga Yoga School of Rome presents Primary Series with Lino Miele

This all-new, fully-featured DVD was filmed at the Ashtanga Yoga School of Rome, Italy, in March 2008. The program demonstrates Ashtanga yoga as described in the Ashtanga yoga book written by Lino Miele under the guidance of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

Ashtanga yoga is an in-depth study of the union between mind, body and spirit. Ashtanga yoga is for everybody. There is no such thing as perfection. Our bodies are all different. What makes this yoga really beautiful, according to Lino Miele, is the fact that we go back to being natural, to being ourselves.
