Acne is one of the most common skin disorders in North America. It affects 80% of female and 90% of male teenagers. Older adults also may be affected; as many as 12% of women and 3% of men over the age of 30 have some form of acne. Acne can affect all ages, races, and genders. Of the teenagers that suffer from acne, approximately 25% will have permanent scars ranging from modest to severe. While acne is an extremely common condition, it is highly treatable.
