    God's Gift of Vision

"The eye is the window to the world, at the same time, it is the window of the soul." - Shakespeare.

35 million people are BLIND or going blind in the developing world and most of them can be cured. Out of 3 million corneally blind people 60% are children below the age of 12. Target retrieval of corneas by Eye bank of India is 150,000 corneas per year. The number of people awaiting corneal transplant is out numbering the available donor tissues.

There is a misunderstanding when we hear eye transplant. Not the whole eye is removed. Only the cornial tissue is removed. Human cadaver is not disfigured while the superficial cornial tissue is taken out for transplant. Body can be returned to the family after this procedure if requested. Attached slide show demonstrates transplant procedure.

There is a new Kamal/Mamooty movie "karutha pashikal", that demonstrate the need of this gift.. I know many of you will see this movie..

Please consider this donation as a wish after ur life. So, if we have got God's gift of Vision, why not try to pass it on to somebody who doesn't have it?
