    Thiruvananthapuram : Thiruvananthapuram, Thursday 15 April 2010: People woke up in the wee hours to see the auspicious 'Vishukkani' symbolising hope, promise and fine prospects they wish to have in the seasons ahead.Devotees thronged major temples across the State including Guruvayur Sree Krishna temple and the hillshrine of Lord Ayyappa at Sabarimala for 'Vishukkani' darshan. Kerala Governor R S Gavai and Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Vishu.
    In a message, Gavai said, ''I convey my most cordial greetings and good wishes to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Vishu.'' ''I pray and hope it will bring peace, harmony and prosperity to one and all throughout the year,'' he said. Achuthanandan said it was time that everyone stood for protecting the nature and greenery of the state. He also wished that the festival would help the state reach agricultural prosperity.
