Thachankary asks why no action was taken against Sreelekha
Kochi: Suspended Kannur range IG Tomin Thachankary alleged that no action was taken against Sreelekha IPS, who had gone on a foriegn trip without government sanction and incurred a loss to the government. He said this in a petition to the Central Administrative Tribunal seeking to cancel his suspension. In 2006, Sreelekha, who was working as MD of Kerala Co-operative Rubber Market Society, visited Thailand on official duty without seeking government permission. He alleged that the rubber market society had not gained anything from the tour and the trip only incurred a loss of Rs 67, 349.
After returning from the tour she wanted the government to pardon her and not take any action on that. Thanchankary had also attached a copy of the letter by the chief secretary in his regard along with the petition. He also pointed out that apart from Sreelekha, other five IAS-IPS officers had gone on tour without government sanction and no action taken against them.
He had given information about the tours of IPS officers Vikram Jith, Jayaprakash and IAS officers P C Sanal Kumar, Jayathilak and I****ha Roy. The action taken by the government will not be accepted by him, he said, as the govt had not acted against them earlier. He also alleged that the government had acted partially in his case.
