New guidelines for granting minority status





Thiruvananthapuram: The state government today informed that new guidelines regarding granting minority status to self-financing colleges would be announced soon. The government counsel informed the same before the national minority education commission that a formal announcement regarding this can be expected within a week. According to the self-financing agreement signed by the government in 2006, institutions where 50% students belong to minority community are entitled for minority status. But uncertainty loomed when the the Kerala High Court later squashed this.
