Cricket fans furious as cable operators not broadcasting 20-20 world cup
Thiruvananthapuram: Majority of the cricket fans in Kerala are deprived of live telecasting of twenty twenty world cup as some cable operators are not providing the service of sports channels by Star network. Asianet Cable Vision (ACV) which owns majority of the broadcasting rights in Kerala cable televisions sector, had imposed a ban for sports channels of start network including Star Sports, ESPN and Star Cricket. ACV officials said that the rise of the charge is the reason for the same. But Star network claims that their rates as nominal and other cable operators have recognized the same. The cable operators are gradually moving against Star as the the channels are shortly losing its charm in sports sector. At present channels like Neo cricket, Ten Sports and Set Max are competing to broadcast high fi games. The cricket competition in India are broadcasted by Neo , IPL by Set max and matches by Pakistani which has great number of fans are being broadcasted in Ten Sports.
The reduction in the contents of Star had made the move against itmore easy. But still other important matches like 20-20 world cup and world cup foot ball are under their power. Though the cable operators stated that they will give higher charges during important matches, star was not ready for the same. Now the row between Star and cable operators are under the consideration of Telecom Disputes Settlement And Appellate Tribunal. But due to this cricket fans in Kerala are deprived of world cup.
