Palakkad custody death: 12 policemen accused
Palakkad: The Crime branch submitted the accused list in the custody death of Sambath in the Puthoor Sheela murder case. Sambath is the main accused in the case. All 12 accused in the case are policemen. The accused list includes 2 SI, Ramesh from North police station and SI Unnikrishnan from South station. The other accused are ASI Ramachandran, Johnson, Shillan, Lobo, Rashid, Prajjith, Madhavan and Shyam of the crime detachment party and constables Pradeep, Byju and Vijayan. The accused were booked with attempt to murder charges. The report states that Sambath died due to torturing by policemen.
Puthoor Sheela was murdered on March 23 and three persons, including Sambath, were held. It is learnt that Sambath died after being tortured at a secret place in Malampuzha by the police.The crime branch group which investigated the case within 43 days submitted the accused list in the Palakkad first class Magistrate court II here on Thursday.
