Over 100 injured as stadium crashes in Malappuram
Areekode (Malappuram): Over 100 persons were injured when a gallery of a stadium crashed at the finals of the Sevens Football Tournament on Friday night. The gallery was build by bamboo poles and had 10 steps. According to sources thousands have come to watch the final match.
The final match between Mediguard Areekode and Fifa Manjeri for the Therattamal Janakeeya Football Tounament started at around 8.50 pm. At around 9.30 pm the gallery crashed as fans on the gallery were celebrating the first goal by Fifa Manjeri team. Many of the injuries happened as people got stuck below the poles. Those who were seriously injured have been taken to the Manjeri General Hospital and the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The incident happenned around 9.30 pm on Friday. Many injured persons have been taken to different hospitals for treatment.
