Disruption of health services a serious issue: Kunhalikutty
Kozhikode: Terming as 'very serious', the disruption of health services in Kerala after a section of doctors defied orders to join duty at new places of postings, the IUML today said the government ultimatum amounted to a challenge to the safety and security of people of the State. The opposition United Democratic Front viewed with all seriousness the disruption of health services following 'mass' transfer of select doctors and felt the government action posed grave threat to security and well-being of the people, IUML State General Secreatary P K Kunhalikutty said here. A section of doctors rejected government ultimatum to join the new places of posting as their services were transferred allegedly on short notice after the CPI-M led LDF Government
decided to implement Speciality cadre in health services. Flaying the government decision to go for publicity campaign to highlight LDF ministry's 'achievements' as it completes four years in power, he asked it to refrain from spending lakhs of Rupees for advertisements in leading print media. Hailing Indian National League resolve to snap ties with LDF and explore forging electoral pact with UDF in the coming civic body polls, he said the decision would further the UDF prospects, ahead of next year assembly polls.
