RJD expels two for cross-voting in Rajya Sabha polls
Patna: The opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Friday expelled two legislators for six years for voting for the ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) during the Rajya Sabha elections Thursday in Bihar.
Rajesh Kumar Singh and Pappu Yadav were expelled for violating the party whip. 'The party has expelled two legislators for cross-voting in favour of the JD-U during the Rajya Sabha elections yesterday (Thursday),' state RJD president Abdul Bari Siddiqui said.
Besides the RJD legislators, five Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislators, one Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator and one Congress legislator voted in violation of their respective party whips.
The BJP and BSP have also threatened action against their legislators for cross voting.
Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan, BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy, JD-U's Upendra Kushwaha and R.C.P. Singh, and RJD's Ram Kripal Yadav were elected to the Rajya Sabha.
