Denial of student loan: Bank manager removed
Thamarassery: On the issue of denial of an education loan to a student, which caused her father to attempt suicide, the bank manager of SBI Kodenchery Branch on Monday was removed from all charges of the bank. The lead bank manager in his report to collector said that there was failure from the part of the manager in issuing the loan. The student will be given the loan. Education Minister M A Baby said that action will be taken after getting the report. Sruthi, a B.Sc Nursing student in Bangalore was denied loan and in this her father Thollampuzha Thomas, 47, attempted suicide by consuming poisonous substance and is recuperating in Medical college hospital.
SBI Kodenchery Branch today witnessed heated protests . Police said activists, owing allegiance to pro-Congress Kerala Students Union, Youth Congress, CPI-M-led Students Federation of India and Democratic Youth Federation of India, took out separate marches to the bank .Representatives of the agitators said the bank had denied the loan to the student, who deserved it.
