No release of new films in Kerala from Wednesday
Kochi: At least 200 theatres in 48 release centers in Kerala will not screen any new films -- Malayalam and other languages
from today following refusal of film exhibitors federation to accept demands of the film producers Association and Distributors Association. Among the demands are introduction of four shows instead of the present three and increase in publicity share.
'We will not supply new release pictures or repeat pictures in 48 release centres affiliated to the federation,' Film Distributors
Association Kerala Secretary Josey C Mundadan told PTI.
New movies are released on Fridays. So due to non-availabil availablity of new films, some would continue with films they are showing for some more time while some others would be forced to shut down, he said.
Admitting that the decision could affect them, Film Exhibitors Federation Secretary M C Boby said 'Nalla Pattu Karan' a film with new faces, would be released tomorrow. A Federation meeting here tomorrow would take stock of the situation, he said.
Industry sources said the decision was likely to affect release of Mohanlal starrer 'Oru Nal Varum' and Jayasoorya's 'Nallavan'. PTI
