South-north express way: Feasibility study to be conducted

New Delhi: A decision has been taken to conduct a feasibility study on the construction of a south-north express highway in the state. Industries minister Elamaram Kareem said that the study will be completed within six months. He was speaking to mediapersons after having a discussion with DMRC chief E Sreedharan. Sreedharan also attended the press meet. He said future course of actions will be planned on getting the report and steps will be taken considering the special situations in Kerala. The state government had plans to construct south-north express way from Thiruvananthapuram to Manjeswaram and KSIDC has been given the primary responsibility. The cost will be Rs 70 crore for one km. As the project requires acquisition of land for not more than 20 meters, experts opined that the proceedings can be completed in a war footing.
