Kochi: The CBI is taking steps to exclude the five from the accused list in the Paul Muthoot murder case. The murder accused Ribin Thomas, Aneesh Kumar and Soni alias Ramesh will be made approvers. Om Prakash and Puthenpalam Rajesh have been charged for destroying evidence and they too will be removed from the list and made approvers inorder to strengthen the case.
The three accused on murder charges were produced before the Ernakulum chief judicial magistrate court and recorded their statements. The CBI can also submit application to make them approvers by removing them from the accused list while submitting the charge sheet.
It was as per the order of Kerala HC that the case was handed over to CBI in which police had earlier submitted a charge sheet. As per police there are 25 accused and Jayachandran is the first and Kari Satheesh the second accused. It was Kari Satheesh who stabbed Paul with a knife. When CBI took over probe the number of accused rose to 28. They have been listed as accused on charges of destroying evidence. Paul Muthoot was killed in Alappuzha Changanassery route in August 2009.
