    Sensex opens 59 pts up on strong global cues

    Mumbai:The Bombay Stock Exchange Benchmark Sensex rose by over 59 points in opening trade today after the most-weighted scrip RIL posted strong earnings amid a firming trend in the Asian region. BSE, which gained nearly 57 points in the previous sessions, added another 59.53 points or 0.32 per cent to 18,137.14 points during the early morning trade. Reliance Industries that carries the most weightage on the 30-share index rose by Rs 15.20 to Rs 1,068.70 at the early stage.
    The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also surged 17.25 points or 0.31 per cent at 5,447.85 points.
    Trading sentiment remained firm in tandem with encouraging quarter results by RIL, which posted 32 per cent rise in its net rofit. The market was also boosted after a firm trend in global markets followed by overnight gains in the US market.
    Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index rose by 0.71 per cent and the Japan Nikkei index was trading higher by 1.88 per cent in early trade today. The Dow Jones Industrial Average index rose
    0.12 per cent in yesterday's trade.
