Kottayam: A website is being widely circulated to sell Kerala state lotteries. The website winstatelotteries.com claims that people can buy lotteries online by remitting money through credit cards. But lottery department officials said they do not have any knowledge about such a website. The registration number cited by them is also not true.
State lottery department director Biju Prabhakar said that a probe has been ordered and if found illegal, action would be taken against the owners.The website also says that the site has been registered with the government under register number 5376. State lotteries like Chaithanya, Kairali, Kanakadhara, Mega Win, Periyar, Twenty-Fifty, Win-Win are offered for purchase.
Winstatelotteries.com states that by giving just the email ID of the purchaser, along with postal code, city name and credit card number, lotteries can be purchased. The site also assures they are recognized registered agents of the government and the money transaction is absolutely safe. The price money can be accepted through western union money transfer and net banking, the website said.
The lottery department officials said that usually the first letter of the district name would be prefixed before the registration number but in this case there is no such letter.
