Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan, handed over to N. Chandrasekaran, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a State Government order sanctioning allotment of 82 acres for setting up the proposed training and development campus in Techno city here.TCS plans to set up a modern training centre, slated to be the country's biggest, which, when complete, would accommodate over 15,000 professionals at a time.
Formally handing over the Government order at a function here on Tuesday, Achuthanandan said that continuous efforts at ramping up IT exports from the State have paid off. He said in 2001 the IT exports which stood at 141 core rose to 2412 crore in 2009.He said TCS project is one of the biggest IT project which would provide jobs directly and indirectly to thousands of educated youth. The campus infrastructure will include classrooms, auditoriums, computer laboratories, a library, cafeterias, accommodation facilities as well as recreational and shopping areas.
It will be the learning hub of the organization and will be connected with all other satellite training facilities across the globe.The land will be allotted on a 90-year lease. Construction of both the development centre and the new training campus should commence within 12 months of allotment of land.TCS will sign a lease agreement with Techno park in this regard.
The TCS training centre will provide large number of direct and indirect employment opportunities to IT professionals, apart from skilled and unskilled personnel from the area and outside.
