J C Foundation awards announced

Kochi: Malayalam actor Mohanlal has been selected for J C Foundation's best Actor award for 2009 for his role in 'Bhramaram', while Mammootty starrer 'Pazhassi Raja' has been adjudged the best film for 2009. Priyanka has won the best actress award for her role in 'Veellapangalkkappuram' and Satyan Anthikkad has won the best director award for 'Bhagyadevatta', Cartoonist Yesudasan, the foundation's award committee chairman;
K M Roy, vice chairman and Abraham Lincoln, general secretary, told reporters here announcing the foudnation's awards in various cateogries.

Actor Prithviraj has been selected for the 'Star of the Year' award. Pazhassi Raja also gets the award for best script (M T Vasudevan Nair), Best lyricist (O N V Kurup), Best Music director (Ilayaraja) and Best sound mixing (Resul Pookutty).
Yesudas gets the Best male singer award.

The awards have been instituted in memory J C Daniel, considered as the first film maker of kerala.

The awards would be presented on Sept 27, at a function here. The foundation's television and drama awards were also announced. For their life time achievments, Drama and music thespian Papukutty Bhagavathar, Balu Mahendra cinematographer and director and vijay kumari, drama actress would be honoured at the function.Pti
