Kochi: 'Pampa' captained by Philip C Jacob and 'Bridget' piloted by Kurien James won the above 100 hp category and the below 100 hp category races, respectively in the `Indmerc' Power Boat Rally 2010 here today.
The race for boats above 100 hp was won by 'Pampa' captained by Philip C Jacob. Team Black Water Ripples captained by Manoj Itty and Jimmy Tachera was the runner-up in this category.
Mr Kurien James and team piloting 'Bridget' were the winners in the below 100 hp category. Team 'Backwater Ripples' with Savio Joy and Jebu Mathew was the runner-up.
Fifteen boats participated in the race.
The race was conducted in two categories under 100 hp and above 100 hp was held over a 50 Km course in the backwaters around Kochi.
The rally was flagged off by Vice Admiral KN Sushil, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Southern Naval Command and Rear Admiral HCS Bisht, Flag Officer Sea Training, according to an official press release.
The rally was conducted by Offshore Sailing Association of India, in association with Indmerc and THE MAN magazine.
