Janasree to observe 'satyagraha' against social threats

Kozhikode : Janasree Development Mission, an organisation for the welfare of economically backward people, would organise a 24-hour 'satyagraha' from Oct 2 to 3 at Thirivananthapuram,for creating awareness on the threat posed by the illicit liquor and 'gambling lottery' in the society. Speaking to mediapersons here today, M M Hassan, Senior Congress leader and Chairman of Janasree Mission, said the worst sufferers due to liquor and lottery was the commonman and his familiy.

Hassan said he himself will observe the 'satyagraha' along with janasree mission activists.

Janasree will work for the economic and social well-being of the people in the society, he said.

Pointing that Janasree advocates development without harming the environment, he said Janasree family meetings will be held at three places in ernakulam on Sept 23, Thiruvananthapuram on Sept 25 and Kozhikode on Sept 26.

Leader of Opposition Oommen Chandy and KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala will participate in the family meetings, he said. Hassan said that all issues concerning seat allotment with the UDF constituents will be solved amicably.

UDF will not have any adjustment with fundamentalist and fascist organisations in the forth local body election, he said. PTI
