Thrissur: Noted Mohiniyattam dancer Kalamandalam Hemalatha is making another attempt to break the Guinness world record in Mohiniyattam by performing continously for 120 hours from September 20 to September 26 at the K T Muhammad Smaraka Theatre of the Kerala Nadaka Sangeetha Academy here.

The dancer said her main objective was to break the existing record of performing Mohiniyattam for 108 hours continusly attained by Dr Vattikotta Yadagiri Acharya of Hyderabad in 2008. The danseuse had made an earlier attempt to set a new record in the Mohiniyattam dance performance on June 6 this year aiming to dance continiously for 120 hours, but was forced to stop after 64 hours. She said she had developed some 'uneasiness' following diet restrictions.
Hemalatha has over 20 years of experience in performing arts. She had performed dances in India and abroad and brought laurels to the Kerala Kalamandalam and recogition to the temple arts of Kerala.Hemalatha has a fellow in 'Mohiniyattam' from the union ministry of human resource development.
