Thiruvananthapuram : Public Sector Banks in the country were facing severe 'human resource' crunch due to lack of experienced hands, as the private banks employed a large number of professionals who had retired from service in those banks, All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOC) General Secretary G D Nandaf said today.
Addressing a press conference here he said ''public sector banks in Kerala were also facing a similar 'crisis' following karge scale recruitment of experienced employees, retired from public sector banks, by the private players like Muthoot and Manappuram Banks.
Warning that the business of Public Sector Banks would be badly affected in the coming days, he said ''the new generation employees in Public Sector Banks are not able to compete with very senior and highly experienced banking professionals, working in private banks.'' The current crisis developed especially after the implementaion of VRS in public sector banks, he said.
''The immediate solution to the cris was to increase the retirement age of the employees in the banking sector,'' he said.
He was also critical of RBI's new 'branch licensing' policy to allow industrialists to open bank branches and handing over RBI to private corporate houses.
Opposing the anti-labour and adverse recommendations of Khandelwal Committee, he demanded immediate restoration of 'compassionate' appointment scheme in banking industry.
The valedictory function of the Silver Jubilee Celebration of AIBOC would be inaugurated by union minister of state for finance Namo Narain on October 23, he addd.
