Prisoner held after escaping from Kannur jail

Kannur: The prisoner who had escaped from Kannur central prison on Monday morning was held from Thalassery by the police team led by DySP Prince Abraham.

Mohandas from Ottappalam, Palakkad, who was serving his life term, escaped when he was brought outside the jail for some work at 10.45 am. Head warden who was on duty at that time was suspended.

Months before Ripper Jayanandan, accused in Mala twin murder case and Riyas, a thief, broke jail and later were held and booked. After that incident security has been tightened in the jail.
