Tendulkar named in ESPN-Cricinfo's all-time Test World XI

New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar is the only Indian batsman to find a place in the ESPN-Cricinfo's all-time Test World XI.
Tendulkar is also the lone player from the current generation to make the cut alongside legends Don Bradman, Viv Richards and Garry Sobers.

Curiously, West Indian batting legend Brian Lara missed out on a berth.

The jury had one former captain from each of the top Test-playing teams - Ian Chappell, Clive Lloyd, Tony Greig, Duleep Mendis, Ali Bacher, Intikhab Alam, John Wright, Ajit Wadekar. Besides, the panel also had four cricket historians and writers.

Lara along with Sunil Gavaskar featured in the second World XI, which also has the likes of Barry Richards, George Headley, Wally Hammond, Imran Khan, Alan Knott, Bill O'Reilly, Fred Trueman, Muttiah Muralitharan and SF Barnes.

Australian captain Ricky Ponting did not fugure in any of the lists.

The ESPN-Cricinfo all-time World XI Test team: Jack Hobbs, Len Hutton, Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar, Viv Richards, Garry Sobers, Adam Gilchrist, Malcolm Marshall, Shane Warne, Wasim Akram, Dennis Lillee.
