Nine persons, including SI, hacked in Alappuzha

Kochi: Violence was reported during the second phase of polling on Monday in which nine persons, including an SI were hacked. In Kottayam, police booked a case against a CPM candidate who attacked BSP booth agent. In Thennadi, SI V S Prashanth from Crime Branch CID section in Thiruvananthapuram, three CPM workers and five RSS workers were injured in the violence. Their condition is stable. The squabble erupted on Monday after noon at the booth in Thennadi St Reethas School where a CPM worker came with swords and SI was hacked when he tried to stop him. When the CPM workers tried to flee, RSS workers blocked them which led to the row.

Chinagavanm police registered a case against CPM candidate in Kottayam Corporation James Pulluparmapu, who beat BSP booth agent Saji Santhiatt, 36.
