Thiruvananathapuram: The civic polls are over and all attention is being given to the upcoming assembly elections to be held after 6 months. Now all parties are gearing up to calculate the seats for the upcoming assembly elections on the basis of the victory in civic polls. After the Lok sabha election, the UDF has ensured almost 100 seats in the assembly election. After the LSG polls verdict, it again vouches with their expectation.
Other than Kozhikode, it is predicted that almost 85 seats would be bagged by the UDF. The migration of Socialist Janata, INL and Kerala Congress Joseph from LDF has also strengthened the UDF. In Thiruvananthapuram, the UDF has a strong hold in nine seats. It has also achieved gains in Kasargod. LDF got a respite only from Kollam. The factors favouring UDF is that the constituencies which had helped the LDF during the previous assembly elections are now in favour of UDF.
In Kottayam, exept one among the nine constituencies, are with UDF. The situation is not different in Idukki too as UDF has a palpable hold in nine constituencies. Apart from Kollam, Kannur also stood with LDF as they have a stronghold in 8 among 11 constituencies. In Palakkad both can ensure 6 each.
