Kozhikode : The newly-elected Left Democratic Front administration in Kozhikode District Panchayat today said it would give utmost priority to agriculture during its tenure in the district.
Speaking at a Meet the Press programme here, District Panchayat President K Jameela and Vice-President R Sasi said surplus land would be taken over and utilised for agricultural projects.
They said all out efforts would be made to resolve food grain scarcity by producing it here itself through various projects to be initiated soon.
Services of Kudumbasree, block and village panchayats would also be utilised for execution of the projects on priority basis, they said.
The administration also contemplating to grant agriculture subsidy to vegetable farmers in the district, they said.
Projects, initiated by the previous district panchayat administration, would also be continued as planned.
They also announced plans to initiate many schemes in other sectors, including heatlh.
