Pathanamthitta : As part of the first phase of the Mandala-Makaravilakku festival, security arrangements were tightened in Sabarimala 'Sannidhanam', the abode of Lord Ayyappa.
According to official sources here today, cameras have been installed in about 20 sensitive forest areas and traditional paths leading to the temple.
Police patrolling has been intensified in the surrounding forest areas during day and night time.
In addition to 300 National Disaster Response Force and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel attached to CRPF, about 600 police constables, 12 Deputy Superintendents, 23 Circle Inspectors and 56 Sub-Inspectors have been deployed at Sannidhanam.
Specially trained commandos, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads and Special Intelligence teams have been deployed in Sabarimala to meet any uncertainity.
A Special police team has been posted at the holy 18-steps Pathinettampady.
An elaborate crowd-control management system at Sannidhanam.
