Kannur : The Centralised Lock Up System will be put in place in Kottayam from next month on experimental basis, Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishanan said today.
Inaugurating a Pain and Palliative Care centre at Mangattuparamaba KAP-4 battalion here, he said, ''setting up of the centralised lock-up system was one of the recommendations of the K T Thomas Commission report.'' The provosions of a comprehensive police act will be readied before December 10, he also announced.
The state government was planning to introduce community police system in every constituency while all women police stations in each circle and free lawyer's help for women would be provided from next year, he said.
A 1,000-member Indian Reserve Battalion will also be commissioned in the state soon, he said.
