Kochi : The investigating team, probing the hand chopping incident of a college teacher at Muvattupuzha, today told the High Court that the investigation on the case was at its initital stage only.
DySP Sabu Mathew, who was investigating the case also informed the High Court that the two key accused in the case, Nazeer and Savad, were yet to be arrested and without their arrest the investigation could not proceed further.
Stating that 25 accused in the case were arrested so far, the report said there were 24 more accused in the case yet to be arrested.
On interrogation of the state leaders of the People Front, Nazarudeen, Prof Koya and Abdul Hameed, by the special investigation team, it was revealed that they were also the leaders of banned Muslim outfit SIMI, it said.
The report also stated that the accused in the hand chopping case acted as a terrorist gang.
However, an appeal was filed by some of the accused against the extention of remand by the sessions court.
