Thiruvanthapuram:Kerala will have a brief year-end session starting from December 20. The state cabinet today recommended Governor R S Gavai for convening the house, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said during his weekly cabinet briefing.
Though the calendar of sittings was yet to be finalised, the house would not be meeting on the Christimas days, he
said. Similarly, the session would not be exceeding to the new year,he said.
KSFE salary revision: The cabinet approved the proposals for revision of pay scales of employees of the Kerala State
Financial Enterprises (KSFE).
The wage revision contract proposed by KSFE in this regard was approved by the ministry.
New bridge: The cabinet decided to fasttrack land acquision for the construction of a new bridge at Muzhappilangad near
Kannur as a parallel link to the decades old 'Moidu Bridge.' The bridge is a vital link between Thalassery and Kannur in
Kochi-Mumbai NH 17. The existing bridge was built during the British rule and has become quite inadequate to cope with steep rise in traffic over the years.
Contruction of a broader bridge has been a long pendind demand as the present one had become a bottle-neck causing
traffic snarls, especially during rush hours.
Relief to Kuttanad farmers: The cabinet approved a proposal to provide relief aid to farmers in Kuttanad who suffered
crop loss due to vagaries of climate like unseasonal downpour.
The measure would benefit mostly the paddy farmers in areas like Thakazhi, Kainakar, Edathua and Pulinkeeshu.PTI
