Mani comes down heavily on PSU move

Kottayam : Kerala Congress (M) Leader K M Mani today came down heavily on the state government's move to set up new nine public sector undertakings (PSUs) and create 1859 posts. At a news conference here, he charged the hasty decision of making appointments even before commissioning the companies, that too, during the period when the tenure of the government was ending, was akin to making backdoor appointment.

Instead of the two companies mentioned in the Governors' speech and Budget, now the government had announced nine.

New industries were good but the manner in which appointment was going to be made could not be justified, he alleged.

Under the Kerala Public Service Commission (Additional Functions as Respects Companies and Corporations) Act, all appointments should only be made through the PSC.
