Kochi: Kerala Court has awarded Death Sentence to a 36-year-old man for the 'gruesome, inhuman and burtal'
killing of his wife in November last year. The Sentence was awarded by Ernakulam session curt Judge B.Kamal Pasha yesterday.
Holding that the murder committed by the accused, Unni, comes in the category of 'rarest of rare cases', the court
awarded him the death sentence under section 302 of IPC.
The accused was also sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life for seriously injuring his wife's mother. The court
also directed him to pay a fine of Rs.5Lakh to the family of his wife.
The accused had at first attacked his parents of his wife before stabbing his wife to death on Novembere 1 last year.
There were 15 wounds in the victim, Usha's body. She had pleaded with her husband to spare her life as he went on
attacking spree.
The Parents had come to fetch their daughter and six-month old child as the accused used to constantly beat her up.
The prosecution produced 16 witnesses in the case.PTI
