Kozhikode: The CPM had taken action against its four leaders in Kozhikode alleging that they were behind the defeat in the recently held panchayat polls. The action was taken against North area committee member P Divakaran, Puthiyangadi local committee member K Subiar, Parayancheri local committee member Abdul Latheef and branch committee member K P Chandran on the basis of a recommendation by the investigation commission appointed by the area committee.
Divakaran and Subair were members of the corporation council during the previous time and both were not given seats this time. The commission recommended ousting P Divakaran, K Subair and Abdul Lateef and suspending Chandran for a period of one year. It is learnt that Divakaran had contacted leaders, including Socialist Janata Democratic president MP Veerendrakumar. It is also alleged that he was not active during the poll campaigns. The allegation against Latheef is that he helped UDF candidate in Azhchavattom and K Subair adopted a stand favorable to the rebels.
