Kollam: Police on Wednesday held a person from Madurai who tortured a three year old kid with cigarette butts. The kid Mani Shankar was found with cigarette burn marks all over his body. Though Pandyan, who was arrested, claimed he was his father, police did not believe him. The police is of the assumption that he might have kidnapped the child.
A police team led by East S I Biju held Pandyan and the kid under suspicious circumstances. Locals waylaid them on seeing burn marks on the kid's face.
Police brought the kid to Victoria hospital and after giving first aid he was shifted to a Juvenile home in Kollam. Police said the kid was in bad condition due to frequent travel and hunger. He slept for many hours in the station. Later police gave him food and chocolates.

When asked about his father, the kid stretched his hands like begging for alms. When SI Anilkumari and team where returning after completing the procedures at the juvenile home, the boy cried to be with them. After consoling him and bidding goodbye, he too waved his hands.
Police also handed over clothes and medicines to the juvenile home superintendent.
As he had no friends of his age in the juvenile home, he would be shifted to another juvenile home on Thursday. Police registered a case against Pandyan as per Juvenile Justice Act.
