Chavakkad : Beware youths of your dress code: police are on your trail to book you if you wear indecent low-waist jeans and trousers in public places.
In a novel attempt to curb the younger generation's indecent dressing the local police here have been initiating action against those who wear their trousers below their waists, creating public nuisence.
''We are not against the younger generation's interest in fashion or their dress taste to make themselves look more attractive. Our aim is only to make them aware about the indecency of wearing low waist jeans exposing even their underwears'' Chavakkad Circle Inspector Shamsuddin told UNI.
Mr Shamsuddin said it is a common scence in front of schools and colleges with boys wearing such jeans, causing nuisance to public, particularly girls and women.
''While attending a religious function some months back, some youths, who were engaged in a mass prayer, caught my attention.
Their underwears were visible, which prompted me to take a decision to make them realise the negative aspect of such dress in public places,'' he said.
This was the reason he took up such a drive under his jurisdiction
