Kollam: Four of a family were found hanging in their home on Monday. The deceased are Balakrishanan, 67, wife Radha, 55, son Satheesh, 35 and daughter Manju, 31 who were residing at Kuruvanpalam Municipal colony near Kollam Sanker's hospital. Balakrishnan was running a footwear repair shop near Chinnakkada Hantex showroom. Son Sateesh was also working there.
The matter came to light when the couple's son Santhosh, residing in Thiruvananthapuram along with his wife, came home on Monday. Satheesh and Manju are not married. Police is of the opinion that the family resorted to such a move due to extreme hardship faced by Satheesh's backbone problem and Manju's delay in getting married. Police found a suicide letter written by Satheesh from the spot. On Sunday evening Balakrishnan called Santhosh and asked him to visit him on Monday morning. Santhosh came home by 10.15 am and though he knocked the door there was no response. When he sneaked through the back window he found the dead bodies hanging in the front room.
Hearing his cries, neighbours and locals broke open the door and informed the police.
Kollam DySP B Krishnakumar, East CI Vijayan, West CI Pradeep came to the spot. After completing the inquest, the bodies were shifted to the district hospital for postmortem.
