    Four children from Kerala bag national bravery awards

    Thiruvananthapuram: Four brave kids from Kerala, Jismi, Vishnu Das, Anoop and Raj Narayan, had bagged the National Bravery awards for rescuing drowning persons in four separate incidents. Twelve-year-old Jismi from Thrissur Perinchery bagged the `Geetha Chopra Award' for rescuing a house wife and her two kids from drowning in a pond. Jismi, who is the daughter of Murali and Bindu of Pulickal house, is a ninth standard student at the Cherpu Government Vocational Higher Secondary School.

    Though he was not able to save the drowning mother, Vishnu Das from Palakkad, bagged the `Bappugayadhani' award for rescuing her two daughters. Vishnu Das is the only son of Ramadas and Sharmila from Lakkidi. He is studying for plus one in Sreesankara Oriental HSS.

    Nine-year-old Anoop from Kainakari Alappuzha bagged the award for rescuing a five year old from drowning. Anoop is the son of Madhusoodanan Nair and Uma Devi and is an 8th standard student at the Chambakkulam Bishop Kuriyalancheri Public School.

    Eight standard student Raj Narayanan rescued a tenth standard student Kevin from drowning. Raj Narayana is the son of Rajesh from Kuttanadu. He is a ninth standard student at the NSS HS Kuttanadu. The award would be presented during the Republic day celebrations on January 26, 2011.
