    SI post exam likely to be cancelled due to malpractices

    Kollam: Police investigation has revealed that there were malpractices in the PSC examination conducted for the post of sub-inspectors a month back. Due to this the examination may be cancelled. The probe also revealed that a job fraud gang is active centering Mayyanadu. The kingpins of the job scam are Mayyanadu Prakash Lal, 49, who is working as the junior superintendent in the Industrial department, ration shop dealer Binu, 29 and Noble, 19 from Mayyanadu. Among them Prakash Lal has been named as an accused in a case where he has passd on answers to a candidate through mobile phone during the previous last grade examination. He is also an accused in the case registered by Kollam DySP B Krishna Kumar for passing answers through cell phone in the SI test.

    Police submitted an application to get Binu under custody who also surrendered earlier. Noble is absconding. Earlier, police held Madhu Chandran, 31, who wrote the exam with the help of a mobile phone and was presented before the Kollam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. Police also booked Arun Prasad, 28 from Mayyanadu in the same case. Police had information that he also gave cheque to Prakash Lal.
