Palakkad: The police on Tuesday booked six people in connection with the murder of a textile businessman from Chennai T. Vilvaraj (45) whose body was found in his car at Thekkepotta near Vadakkanchery on the Palakkad-Thrissur border on Sunday.

Alathur DySP P M Safar Alikhan, who is leading the probe, said that investigation is progressing actively. Though Vilvaraj was found dead after being hit by a rock on his head, the bruises all over his body indicate that he was subjected to torture before being murdered. Vilvaraj began his journey from Chennai to Salem in his Ford Endeavour car. The documents which Vilvaraj's wife Abhirami had said he carried along with him when he left the house were supposed to be missing .A purse containing a ATM card and money is also missing.
Police also suspect the involvement of private financiers in the incident. Abhirami and Vilvaraj's brother Pradeep came to Thrissur Medical College on Monday and identified the body. Later, after postmortem, the body was handed over to the relatives.
