Thiruvananthapuram: Indian Railways today launched Mother Express, an exhibition train to commemorate the birth centenary of Mother Teresa.
The train would showcase the life and philanthropic deeds of the Nobel Peace Prize winner in 1979 and India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna in 1980 for her humanitarian work, according to a raiway press release here today.
''The exhibition train aims at preaching the message of humanism and sermon of sacrifice of the Mother'', it said.
The ''Mother Express'' is a tribute to the social work and missionary charity to which Mother Teresa dedicated her life serving the poor and helpless people all over the world, it said.
The train would travel all over the country, it said.
The aim behind the introduction of ''Mother Express'' was to spread awareness among the people about the greatness of the services rendered by Mother Teresa throughout her life, it said.
The train comprises three air-conditioned coaches in which photographs and write-ups on the life and message of Mother Teresa have been kept for pulic viewing. The train will reach Thiruvananthapuram Central on December 26, it said.
The exhibition in the train will be opened for public from 1000 hrs to 2000 hrs, it said.
