Kozhikode: Kozhikode Mayor A K Premajam on Tuesday inaugurated an electronic public toilet for women, the first such facility in the country, here.
Introducted jointly by Thiruvananthapuram based Deacelera Electrinics (DE) and Rain Concert at their own cost on experimental basis, the toilet would open after inserting a Re 1 coin, DE Director Manoharan said.
He said the Kozhikode Corporation would manage the facility if it was economically viable, adding the firms had submitted proposals to all civic bodies for setting up similar facilities in the states.
