Kalpetta : The Kerala government today suspended 13 survey officials, including a Deputy Director, for alleged involvement in converting private land into government land at Cheeral village in this hilly district.
Talking to UNI Additional District Magistrate V Abdul Nazar said the action was taken for alleged fradulent role in showing many acres of private land as government land in a re-survey at Cheeral village in the district.
The suspended officials also hold the ranks of Assistant Director, Technical Assistant, Head Surveyer, Survery Superintendent and Head Draftsman hailing from Wayanad, Kozhikode and Kottayam districts, he said.
The action came at a time when the district was rocked in an appointment scam in which as many as eight persons got enrolled in different government departments without undergoing mandatory examinations, using forged documents.
Then Collector T Bhaskaran was shifted, two senior officials were suspended for their failure to detect the scam and many were arrested in this connection.
