Tanishq to open 15 new ratail stores in next fiscal

Kochi: India's first and largest Jewellery retail store chain- Tanishq will be opening 15 new retail stores in various parts of the country, including 5 large ones, in the 2011-12 fiscal. Of the 15, five would be large format stores of 10,000-15,000 square feet which would be company stores, Tanishq General Manager, Saumen Bhaumik, told reporters here. A 22,000 square feet showroom was coming up at mumbai soon, besides large stores at kolkatta and Delhi, he said. Mid size stores would be a combination of franchisees and company's. The Tanishq retail chain currently includes 121 exclsuve boutiques, including two Zoya stores, in 76 cities. Tanishq on Tuesday elaunched its kochi showroom as an all diamond showroom, first of its kind in the country. The store would be having the largest range of diamonds, he said. In kerala, Tanishq, has only show showroom and there were plans to add one more, he said. The Diamond business was doing very well and growing far more than 50 per cent. During the last one year there has been 10-15 per cent increase in diamond prices. Tanishq's turnover from diamond business during the last fiscal was rs 900 crore.
